A Brief History It
may have started in the mid '70s. Ottawa people began to take longer second
looks at the older downtown neighbourhoods. Visits to Yorkville, Vancouver
and Boston stirred comparisons, and raised possibilities. Somerset Street,
particularly between Bank and O'Conner was one area deemed to "really have
some promise". But plans and dreams came and went, yet Somerset never really
made the transition. Yes, it was a major downtown intersection, and the
collection of turn-of-the-century buildings were captivating, but somehow
something more was needed to make this potentially dynamic area come alive.Page Design by Destination...Ottawa |
